Panaeolus cyanescens    -    Vietnam

We are glad to add this potent specie to our menu. There has been some confusion between this mushroom and another with a similiar name, Psilocybe cyanescens. To clear it up, Ps. cyans are a small brown mushroom which grows in the fall off wood chips in the PNW and Europe. Pan. cyans are a tall, skinny mushroom which grows in warmer regions off typical horse manure substrates, fields, etc. In Australia they are known as 'Blue Meanies'. In Vansterdam, Pan. cyans are grown the same as cubensis, in pf jars or bulk substrates of compost, etc. Although very skinny, they fruit prolifically, dozens at a time.
